Have you always wanted to run, but find it hard to get started or stick to a training plan?

Do you want to run your first 5 or 10K in this year? Want to improve your speed, stamina or distance?

My beginner workshops are designed to support and improve your running, to help you avoid injury and find the joy in running outdoors.

Did you know that core strength is essential to improve your running style? That weak glutes can lead to sore knees? That simple changes to posture can improve your endurance? I'll give you guidance on how to build strength, stamina and flexibility for long term benefits to your running.

Workshops will take place over 6 weeks on a Thursday lunchtime or Saturday morning in beautiful locations just 15 minutes from Bristol. Each session will include a warm up, some strength, conditioning and flexibility exercises as well as a 2-3 mile walk/run on various terrain. In our final week we will cover a 5k distance.

Workshops topics will include:

  1. Effective warm up and stretching

  2. Posture and core - key exercises to take home

  3. Strength training - key exercises to take home

  4. Increasing your speed through interval training

  5. Hill training

  6. 5K run/walk

I have learnt so much in the last 6 weeks not only about running technique, strength training but nutrition, wellbeing and so much more. Lesley is so knowledgeable and supportive I feel like I have got more than I paid for! I finished the course on week 6 running a 5k (something I never thought I would do in the timescale) I am so happy to be running again and loving how much better I feel for it
— Tara, Clevedon
I had a great time at Lesley’s beginner running workshops. It was a personal goal to reach a point that I could understand why people enjoy running and I reached that with Lesley’s help. It’s not just about the running, Lesley also helps with strengthening exercises and how to do proper warm ups/cool downs. And her love of exercising outdoors is infectious! Highly recommended.

one to one running support

If you're looking to train for a 5K or 10K and would like one to one support in devising and implementing a training plan, then get in touch via the form below about how I can develop a bespoke programme to suit you.

I have just completed Lesley’s beginners running workshop and I have to say it has been the highlight of my year. Until Lesley’s workshop I had never found the ‘joy’ in running and was not motivated to get up and go for a run. This has completely changed in just 6 weeks and I am now running at least twice a week and thoroughly enjoying the feeling it has given me. Lesley is so enthusiastic, encouraging and really knows her stuff! I have no hesitation in recommending her!
— Becky, Long Ashton
Lesley is so inspirational and patient. Amazingly I actually looked forward to each week’s run (I didn’t think I would ever say that!) and as a group we built up the run times hardly noticing we were running for longer, learning tips and tricks from Lesley which made it easy and fun...
— Juliet, Long Ashton

Monday night running group

Come and join me and a friendly group of female runners every Monday evening at 7.30pm for a 30 - 40 minute run in Long Ashton. The group is registered with Run Together and you can book yourself in for a run here

We meet outside the Little Tipple on the Weston Road in Long Ashton for a run of approximately 3 miles around the village. Anyone is welcome, whether you're a beginner or a more experienced runner. It's a sociable group and all levels are welcome. No runner is too slow, honestly! We stick to well lit roads around the village in the winter, but get more adventurous once the evenings get lighter.

Come and join us every week. If, after a couple of sessions, you decide you want to run regularly then I ask for a small monthly subscription to be paid either by bank transfer or PayPal.

Love the fact I can’t slope off. Lesley offers tips as we run, and keeps us all going by asking us how our week has been, remembers the little things, and cares about keeping the momentum going.
