In all my running groups and classes it's my aim for you to enjoy the experience and to really learn to love running for the long term.

Running workshops for beginners

My beginner workshops are designed to support and improve your running, to help you avoid injury and find the joy in running outdoors.

Did you know that core strength is essential to improve your running style? That weak glutes can lead to sore knees? That simple changes to posture can improve your endurance? I'll give you guidance on how to build strength, stamina and flexibility for long term benefits to your running.

Workshops will take place over 6 weeks on a Thursday or Saturday morning in beautiful locations just 15 minutes from Bristol. Each session will include a warm up, some strength, conditioning and flexibility exercises as well as a 2-3 mile walk/run on various terrain. In our final week we will cover a 5k distance. 

Workshops topics will include:

  1. Effective warm up and stretching

  2. Posture and core - key exercises to take home

  3. Strength training - key exercises to take home

  4. Increasing your speed through interval training

  5. Hill training 

  6. 5K run/walk

Improvers' running 

Many previous participants of the beginners' workshops have asked for additional support, so I have put together a new set of improvers running classes - to work on your strength, pace and running fitness in a 30- 45 minute run specific training session. Sessions will take place in Flax Bourton and Failand. 


The initial 6 week course with Lesley has quite literally changed my life. I completed it last Summer and can now officially call myself a runner- so much so that my trainers now come on holiday with me! If you have always wanted to ‘be a runner’ go for it- Lesley’s sunny and positive disposition is infectious- you instantly feel like a better person just by being in her company 😀

Lesley is just wonderful! I just completed her 6-week beginners running course and can honestly say I’ve surprised myself! She made it so easy and enjoyable, starting off gently and building up and taught me all the basics of running such as warming up and stretching, posture and hill running. So, I can now go out running safe in the knowledge that I know what to do. Starting a good running practice has helped me get fitter and sleep better (and a lot more). I have just completed the 6 week beginners running workshops and WOW - never expected the results I got!! I have tried running many times since I last ran properly (as a teenager) but failed to keep momentum each time. Lesley got me running properly - good preparation for each run, pacing it carefully, listening to your body and adjusting for little twinges, and thorough after-run stretches. All with the primary intention of remaining injury-free so that running is enjoyable - and that’s exactly what happened to me! I feel fitter and both physically and mentally stronger and I now want to run as often as I can - amazing!! I can’t recommend Lesley enough. Monday night running group 

Come and join me and a friendly group of female runners every Monday evening at 7.30pm for a 30 - 40 minute run in Long Ashton. The group is registered with Run Together and you can book yourself in for a run here

We meet outside the Little Tipple on the Weston Road in Long Ashton for a run of approximately 3 miles around the village. Anyone is welcome, whether you're a beginner or a more experienced runner. It's a sociable group and all levels are welcome. No runner is too slow, honestly! We stick to well lit roads around the village in the winter, but get more adventurous once the evenings get lighter. 

Come and join us every week. You can either pay as you go (£5 per session) or join as a member (£8 per month). 

Love the fact I can’t slope off. Lesley offers tips as we run, and keeps us all going by asking us how our week has been, remembers the little things, and cares about keeping the momentum going.
